Composting:

The Compost Mentor Scheme is a pioneering home composting promotion which is  engaging communities as part of the Community Food and Composting project (CCFC)  <read more>

CWA works with schools, individuals and community groups promoting composting and providing compost workshops at community events. <read more>

Penzance Wormery Project was a partnership with PEN (Penwith Environmental Network) which encouraged people to start using a wormery to compost their kitchen waste.

CWA undertakes occasional beach cleans and surveys.

News from 2010 Beach Clean

The SeaScapes Project built on previous beach cleaning activity and our ‘Plastic Kills’ campaign’, with the aim to actively encourage local communities to use nature as a resource for beneficial outdoor activities such as coastal walks, bird-watching, wildflower identification and rocky rambles. <read more>

Local Food Growing:

The Backyard Food Project was a community initiative funded by the Local Food fund from the Big Lottery.  The project engaged local people in new horticultural activities and  introducing the concept of container gardening. <read more>

Growing Together is a Community Greenspace project working in partnership with Cornwall Waste Action, that links owners of unused gardens with other local people who would like to grow their own food but don’t have access to a growing space. <read more>

Capacity Building:

CWA has long established capacity building relationships with a number of environmental based community groups in Cornwall, a significant amount of this work was currently undertaken through the Changing Communities programme. <read more>

CWA provides services which support behavioural change, through community engagement and collaboration and works with a  range of organisations on waste awareness promotion.  <read more>

The project was a partnership between Cornwall Scrapstore and Cornwall Waste Action, providing community workshops that focused on waste awareness as well as creative art. <read more>
