The Neighbourhood Recycling Project is an exciting community waste initiative between Cornwall Waste Action and the Pengegon Area Collective starting in May, with the aim of raising local awareness about waste reduction, through a series of community based workshops.
A range of activities will happen at regular events from May to July, providing the community the opportunity to learn more about home composting, growing your own food, recycling effectively, creating art from waste, cycle maintenance and renovating old clothes.
The project is keen to work with local people over the age of 19, from the Pengegon, Gwelmor, and Park an Tansys area of Camborne who are currently not in employment and would like to take advantage of free workshops, that will provide participants with the skills and enthusiasm to take on the message of the ‘3 R’s’, recycle, reuse and reduce both in their own homes and in the wider environment.
Cornwall Waste Action’s Community Project Worker, Jacqueline Merrick Says “It is really important that we all minimise our environmental impact through reducing what we consume and the amount of waste we create. However we can also all benefit financially from a more frugal lifestyle, through attending these workshops, we will provide local people with the opportunity to be greener, have fun and save money”.
If you want to register an interest to attend any of the workshops visit the Community Neighbourhood Office, at 72 Park an Tansys, Camborne.
