If you’re interested in finding out more about growing your own food, composting and wormeries , or keeping bees, and would like to hear about what’s going on in this area, come and join in the workshops and activities, suitable for all ages.
As well as arts and crafts with recycled materials, there will be the opportunity to make your own delicious healthy lunch, and find out more about the “Big Lunch”!
More and more of us want to know where our food is coming from and so are growing our own vegetables. When space or time doesn’t allow this, we’re buying locally grown food to support local growers and help keep down food miles. Not since “Dig for Victory” have we been such a nation of growing our own! For the first time, in the last few years sales of seeds for fruit and vegetables has far exceeded those for flowers and ornamentals, so here’s your opportunity to find out why!
Ruth Swales, CN4C’s Neighbourhood Environment Worker says “This project is working with communities throughout Cornwall, we have provided training so far to over 380 people in mid and west Cornwall on growing food and composting, we are now looking forward to recruiting people in east Cornwall to learn new skills.” Ms Swales added “By attending this educational but fun event at Bodmin Children’s centre you will find out about the benefits of participating in this project and meet others in the community that would like to do the same.”
Cornwall Community Food and Composting is a partnership project run by Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change, Cornwall Waste Action and the Federation of City Farm and Community Gardens.
