- Buy a real Christmas tree, growing in a pot, so it can be planted or re-used again.
- Remember to Compost all your kitchen waste, cardboard and paper.
- Keep all your wrapping paper to use again next year.
- Use old newspapers and magazines as wrapping paper.
- Try and buy your food “unwrapped” with little or no packaging.
- Recycle your Christmas cards or re-use again next year as gift tags or more cards or send e-cards.
- Take unwanted gifts and clothes to charity shops; furniture and household goods to GOFA, SOFA or Re:Source or use Freecycle.
- Avoid using paper plates, cups and serviettes or buy recycled.
- Don’t buy toys and games that need batteries.
- Donate the money you normally spend on cards and gifts to charity.
- Buy cards made from 100% recycled materials or send e-cards .
- Try purchasing environmental, ethicial, second-hand or recycled gifts.
