Tree Dressing at Redruth

Cornwall Waste Action is co-ordinating a Tree dressing event for Redruth, this Saturday.

This community art activity will be part of the Redruth Transition event to be held at the Krowji (Old Grammar School), from 10 am -5 pm.

A man-made tree of waste materials found at the Krowji site is being constructed, for decoration on Saturday, which will include objects crafted from additional waste materials sourced from the Cornwall ScrapStore.

Cornwall Waste Action are anticipating that local people will also take part in the event, through creating decorations at an informal workshop, as well as decorating the waste tree, there will be an opportunity to take home a decoration to use later in the month as a Christmas decoration.

The Tree Dressing workshop will run from 10 am -2 pm at the Krowji, where you can just turn up and join in with the fun.

Tree Dressing Day is part of folk art tradition and historically has been carried out around the world; it encourages the celebration and importance of trees with the community in a range of public settings. In the UK the event is held in the first weekend in December as part of national tree week.
