FREE Compost Bins

CWA has a number of 230 litre compost bins to give away to people in Cornwall. Unfortunately they are without their lids, however it is possible to improvise and re-use a piece of old carpet or some timber to cover the bin and still make useable home compost.

If you would like one of these bins, please email (Aktiviere JavaScript, um die Email-Adresse zu sehen) with  your name, contact details and postcode.  The bins will be available in January 2011; when we will let you know where and when you can pick up your FREE bin.

Please Note: Applicants will be required to collect compost bins from Redruth or Penzance

FREE Compost Bins — 4 Comments

  1. The ‘lidless’ bins are surplus former District council stock and are not part of a funded project. We are just attempting to get them utilised and are limited to the distribution points (SOFA and GOFA), where they are stored.

I understand your irritation of the ‘western’ geographic location but logistics are problematic, as a small voluntary sector organisation, we lack the staff capacity or finance to transfer these bins to the East at present.

Later this year we will be delivering our Compost Mentor programme in East Cornwall and hopefully there will be some possible collaboration with SEA and some of your members will be able to become mentors, where they will be able to access free compost bins (lids included).

  2. SEA have members who could use these but it is not worth the trip to the other end of the county to collect one. In the spirit of Cornwall Waste Action meaning All-Of-Cornwall Waste Action and not being the usual Truro/West Cornwall-centric quango perhaps you could arrange to have a batch of them delivered to East Cornwall and we will redistribute in SE

  3. I’m interested in a bin, have an old dustbin lid, which will do the job, just put a brick on top to weigh it down, will email my contact details!

  4. Penzance would be preferable, if I am successful, thanks. My address is: St Ives TR26 1AX
